Disability Response Limited

About Us
Disability Response Limited is a registered charity in Australia dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities, impoverished individuals, the elderly, and survivors of domestic violence in Burundi. Established in 2023, our mission is to provide sustainable support through healthcare, inclusive education, housing, and livelihood programs while advocating for the rights and dignity of marginalised communities.
Our Story
The vision for Disability Response Limited was born out of personal experience and a deep commitment to combat discrimination against people with disabilities.
Our founder, Fidele Musiri, was born with a physical disability and is the proud parent of a daughter with Down syndrome. After spending 11 years in the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi, Fidele relocated to Australia and pursued specialised training in advocacy and community service at San Francisco University and GENU.
Throughout his journey, Fidele has spearheaded numerous initiatives to uplift marginalised communities:
-
A.DE.P.H (Association pour l’Auto-Développement des Personnes Handicapées) in Buganda, Burundi.
-
UMOJA (Unity) in Malawi, supporting people with disabilities in refugee camps.
-
A Respite Day Care Centre for children with mental disabilities in the Malawi Refugee Camp.
-
The Disability Response Association (DISARA) in Burundi, empowering people with disabilities to become independent advocates for their rights.
With a lifelong dream of eradicating discrimination and fostering equality, Fidele established Disability Response Limited to expand these efforts and bring lasting change to those most in need.
